I was wondering that too ... no POTW last week, no BlipCentral updates. hmmm...
Have I missed an email or something? Blipfoto's Facebook and Twitter pages inactive for nearly a week now and the two main men behind the site MIA for the same amount of time?
Worryingly odd or just a coincidence..?

It does seem worryingly odd..
All I will say is have you backed up all of your blips?
@blouseybrown: I know -- eek. I have all the photos of course, but not my deathless prose. I can't envisage scrolling through over 1000 blips copying all the text, or taking screenshots.
All staff I know of appear "off grid"... mmmm..... time to start "Plan B" as discussed.....
Could they just be on a staff away-week?
Yep, I've started to feel a bit concerned too. I'm away on holiday so can't do any emergency backing up :(
Anyone local fancy dropping in to see if the office is boarded up...
well they did say there would be an announcement of a BIG surprise "feature" coming up soonish, didn't they?..
perhaps this is it?....
a mystery disappearance?
(i propose a huge blipmeet of all us...concerned...before it's too late!?...;-)
Apparently the Blipfoto phone number has been reallocated. Plan B becoming more urgent!
Really? Just like that ? That lifetime membership isn't looking such a good bargain anymore. Any technical geniuses figured out a mass download yet?
surely the "mystery" feature is getting more and more mysterious...
the plot thickens?
but surely they can't ALL have disappeared!? (maybe they should be reported as missing persons?...by someone?..."founding members",and those blippers close to joe?. what do you think? ?
clever "feature" though...leave us alone asking questions to each other...hmm...
Ten days now. All that 'Be Excellent' bollocks wears a bit thin when it's all just in one direction. Now just worrying.
another blipper suggested that...
"Polaroid pulled the plug. Blip over committed and walked away. Blip continues until the meter runs out."
I'm guessing they've sold it and have been gagged by the new owners.
Alternatively abducted by aliens.
Backing up blips sounds like a good idea. But I don't know where to start. How would you suggest? I'm a computer idiot!
s2 who also works at blipcentral hasn't blipped since 1 March.
all of them abducted by aliens?...
or silenced by polaroid?...
is this possible?...ALL of them?
should we be worried and contact someone?...
If anyone pulled the plug it would have been the bank.
I don't normally get involved in the forum (too much conflict usually) but this silence has bothered/intrigued me to the point of wanting to know... something! Anything! Anyway, I've been googling (always a bad thing) but stumbled across the original release from Polaroid about the partnership. There was a PR contact listing at the bottom of the release so I decided to them a shout to see if they had any information to share.
Text below. Hope nobody minds that I linked to this forum question but asking permission is just so passé these days! :-)
I'll let you all know if I hear back.
Dear Ms Hoistion,
I am a member of Polaroid Blipfoto and I was wondering if you could shed any light on recent events with the website since it would appear that all of a sudden all of the staff have stopped posting and there have been no updates for over a week now. It would appear that nobody is resonding to email queries from the members and there are reports of telephone numbers being disconnected.
Obviously this has raised many concerns (such as the forum discussion below).
The ongoing silence is ominous but since your name was listed in connection with the Polaroid partnership, I was wondering if you could shed any light on the matter, or at least respond to queries which so far have been lacking from the Blipfoto team themselves.
I look forward to your reply and any information you can provide.
Everyone in this thread asking about backups: have a look at this thread for a few different ways:
There's no automated way of doing it so it's a bit laborious.
I'm sure the Blip team have been gagged (metaphorically I hope), presumably by Polaroid's lawyers.
We should recall, of course, that Polaroid own this domain name.
@Arclight: true, but Blipfoto Ltd still owns blipfoto.com. I thought at the time that they were idiots to change the domain name. At least they have control of the old one though.
so the ship is definitely "thinking" then?...
shame... i sort of trusted joe...:except when his video-announcement came out... he looked as if somebody was holding a gun to his head!? ...still ...only 2 months after the announcement and a couple of weeks after they told us we were going to have a "mystery feature!?"....selling your soul to american millionaires: not a good move...i hope they get a reasonable amount of money to escape scotland!?...i imagine after this, reputation would be in tatters?
From the Polaroid website this morning......
......I'm pretty sure that there was an image in that big blank space once!
perhaps some legal issues going on after all those blip then and now pics went viral... Or maybe some deeply troubling personal crisis for someone on the team. I hope everyone at blip central is safe and well.
The crew have bailed out, or died, and we are heading for deep space... until the power run out
Hopefully even if the plug is pulled, the site won't just disappear. But, for those concerned about staying connected, you might want to join this existing fb group... https://www.facebook.com/groups/blipfotofriends/
Strange that this 'silence' has started only about 3 months after Polaroid got involved. Have they suddenly realised the financial side isn't viable and have 'quietly' gone away?
I would much rather they be 'manly' and say straight what is happening whether that be good or bad news for us. All this speculation isn't good for us blippers or the Blip/Polaroid brand.
They expect us to be excellent to each other (their moto) but it seems it a case of do as I tell you and not what I do!
I read all this last night and was quite concerned and voiced my fears on the FB page - started copying my journal entries - but it is, as someone else has said, very laborious, having over 800 entries. Very sad if it goes "down the tubes" - so many people will be upset and disappointed.
