<EMAIL ADDRESS REMOVED BY MODERATOR>

I just emailed Joe the following:

Dear Joe,

I was saddened to read that blipfoto has gone into liquidation. But even more saddened that you did not have the courtesy to address us to tell us this was happening and to explain why.

Yes, it's a business to you, but I think we all felt that it was much more than that and that you believed that too.

How could you all just disappear and let us find out through rumour and speculation?

Even at this late stage, a statement from you and/or Polaroid would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

blast

I don't think Joe saw this as just a business either, and am pretty sure his priorities just now will be with those much more closely affected than all of us.

I do agree being kept in the dark was not good, but there may be legal reasons why the management team was not able to speak until after the liquidation was confirmed. They must be just as upset as the users about what's happened.

@MerrilHope If you mean, how did I know about the liquidation: several blippers have posted blips showing the Companies House liquidation notice today. There are other forum posts about it too.

FYI - I've just removed Joes email address from this thread.

While I'm in the dark as much as everyone else (and hence quiet like all the other staff), I know one thing for sure; None of the staff saw this as just a business, we all passionately believed in what we were building. It's been as much of a shock to us as it has to everyone else.

Before you share any staffs personal email addresses publicly to harass/complain/vent can I please ask you consider for a moment that some of us were sole income earners with families and mortgages...

@s2 Pleased to see that someone on the staff is still keeping an eye on the site! If it has been as much of a shock to you all as well, then that is outrageous. It sounds as though you too would welcome a statement...

@s2 Thank you so much for your comment.

Whilst it's a sad day for us blippers, it's just a hobby to us and my heart goes out to those of you whose livelihoods depended on the site. I hope it can all be resolved and wish you and your family the best of luck.

@s2 good to hear from you. I hope that you and your fellow staff members and families are doing as well as can be expected in the circumstances.

@S2 very sorry to have heard the news today about Blipfoto. The upset caused to members obviously pales in comparison to what you and the team must be going through. But I do think the strong feeling is a real tribute to what you've all been so successful at building.

@s2 I echo others sentiments of wishing you and other Blip staff and your families well with this turmoil. Life has a way of always working out somehow (usually for the better). I am hoping this can all be resolved satisfactorily for all of us but especially for those of you whose lively hood depended on it. Your work has been deeply appreciated as I am sure you can see from all of the concern regarding the possible loss of this site and it's wonderful community. My best wishes, pzap62

I actually suspect its hurting joe massively to NOT comment and tell us what was happening - I am certain that there were legally binding disclosure issues that prevented it. If he possibly could have, don't you think he would publicly have said "look guys, blip will go under if we dont rally round" or something

Glad to see you here, s2. You and all the team must be going through hell. Sure, people are upset at possibly losing their journals and connections but you are facing the loss of your livelihoods as well as a project you passionately believed in. Sending my very best wishes and heartfelt thanks to all of you.

Give Joe a break. It will be much more than a business to Joe. He must be devastated by the recent circumstances and I can only imagine how he feels about this situation. If, as I hope, efforts are being made to revive the site, we all need to be positive and supportive. I believe that everything done by Blip Central was in the best interests of the continuing survival of the site but despite that liquidation has been the result.

I think if the Team at Blip Central have been following the forum and the Blipfoto Friends FB page, they cannot fail to have seen how much support and thanks they have been getting - and if they haven't been following, then I hope they will know from the entries in this post that we are all hoping and praying that this is just a "blip" and that we can carry on in some way. I have looked at quite a number of journals today and all of them, without fail, have been hugely supportive. As many have said, and I echo this "Until the fat lady sings, it ain't over!"
