"Ruined blip birthday"

this is what I've written on today's blip ...

STROP TIME
I wasn't going to comment on the blip changes until the roll out was complete
BUT
today marks my 4 x 365 and because they've added in my one back dated blip they gave me my balloon yesterday for a totally inconsequential photo

WHAT BALLOON
oh yes it's such a tiny little icon I missed it as well until I got the email
WAY TO GO BLIP
The community features we all loved seem to have been sacrificed for a "trendy rebranding"
A "trendy rebranding" that doesn't even look as good as Blipfoto used to look on my iPad
I want my stats
I don't want a counter on each shot
I want the comments to reflect the blip they were against
I don't want an "anonymous comment"
So here is a blip to mark my fourth 365
The blip that will take its place in my 365 book
I'm sticking with it but I'm posting this in the forum because it really has upset me
(But I love all of you blippers)

I think the numbers change is a really crappy one. I've given up wih the blip numbers and am going to stick with my own counting,

How annoying for you!

I really don't think I'll be renewing my subscription.....all they needed were better servers - not a rebrand with LESS great features.

I've missed my 1095th (3 years) blip birthday because of the new roll out - and I had BIG plans ...... very disappointed indeed

This is such a shame. The community loved to celebrate Blip Birthdays but this recent change of website has had a knock on effect for you and others. I am 12 days away from my 3x365 birthday and have no idea if it is going to be a good experience. Blip created the buzz around Blip Birthdays but seems to have swept it away without a thought. They need to speak up on this issue, it is fundamental to the community.

I'm also only a few days away from my first blip birthday and I agree with you all .. this is rubbish and I think they made a huge mistake changing it like this, as someone said, all they needed were better servers! I can't upload from two days ago as my publish button doesn't work either.

I feel your pain; I missed my 5 year anniversary because I added some archived Blips that I felt helped tell my story. It would have been nice to have known so I could have made the choice between deleting these archived Blips (which is a shame) or just not celebrating the milestone (which is also a shame)
Apparently backdated Blips were 'hugely confusing' according to feedback (an answer from Blip in a different thread) but to just throw everything together is just not right :/

Oh, what a shame :( Blip birthdays are such a major feature of blip, you must have been so disappointed. Please accept a virtual balloon from me!

Apparently my five year blipday is in two days because of my archived blips. It isn't it is in August, but at least I didn't miss a blipday as one of my friends has due to the incorporation of the archived blips. Not happy.

This is really, really disappointing. Apart from the clear distress to anyone who started blipping around the beginning of a year (which is probably most of us) who has now had that celebration messed up, the whole concept of blip birthdays is now completely meaningless. Now do I rush off and delete my (thankfully few) retroblips to get the rite of passage on the right date?

This needs fixing before Jan 1st.

I got lucky as I'm two away now because of my arechived blips but can understand your irritation. I've emailed them direct for clarification but until I hear I'll stop posting..... just when I was getting back into it as well.....

I'm not keen on the new Spotlight I'm afraid, I don't even really understand how it works. I liked the comments with the actual blip.

This is a piece of major stupidity and illustrates how little thought went into the consolidation of blips posted on dates before signing up. All "Birthdays" and the number of entries are now meaningless.

I posted a number of archive entries and since signing up three and a half years ago haven't missed a day but that isn't what my joournal shows now. Sure, I am nearer my 1500th but only if you apply the "new rules".

The "photo-a-day" concept and challenge is now meaningless here.

This is unforgivable and suddenly Blipfoto is much reduced place.

Ah well, another Subscription lost.

I did see someone today Sat 20th, with a red balloon, but only spotted by chance as looking thru Blips and person had drawn their 500 for Blip. But I wouldn't know if people I originally subbed with have had a Birthday Blip or not, hopefully it will show.

Sorry your Backblips have messed with your date diary.

That is such a shame my 1000th slipped past because of back blips, but I have been in blip doldrums recently so it wasn't a big deal. But I feel for you, 4 years of consecutive blips is a great achievement. I'm sorry your big day was spoiled.

I agree. It would have been nice if the new version of Blipfoto had been completed before the merger with Polaroid, so that we could see what we were getting, and not have the two issues confused.

This is beginning to bug me. I have 39 back Blips which will throw my stats out as it stands.

I will delete them but I may do it one by one so I reach my 365 BlipBirthday 39 times one day after another.

I think this will show how silly any form of counting is if they don't go back to the old system.

Well that's going to be interesting Skeena - as you say, lets go back to the old system, how hard can it be?

Is anyone noticing anything new? Or any problems being solved? Just wondering!
