I tried to publish a jpg photo, but was instructed that it was an invalid jpg photo. What reasons might that be for?

Two possible reasons that I can think of.
1) You may have just changed the file extension to .jpg without actually changing the file format.
2) You may have used software that has not saved it in the sRGB workspace. Maybe you saved it as CMYK?
I had exactly the same problem a few days ago. It was a jpg, I hadn't altered it in any way but it wouldn't let me publish it. In the end I put a border around it and then it worked fine. Frustrating.
