If the intention of the gallery is to take pressure away from the 'white background' complaints I don't think it will work.
It's OK but just a slight extension of the existing 'view large'. You can't see the gallery image with its black background alongside the comments and description. The problem with white background of the standard view still remains as does the degraded quality of the standard image.
3/10 can do better from me

I agree, it's a very nice way of looking at the image in isolation (even better than the old "large" view). But it resolves neither the white background issue, nor the even more annoying one of not being able to view the whole "small" photo on a laptop screen. I really wish BlipCentral would devote more resources to fixing what's broken rather than adding "nice to have" features.
Wholeheartedly agree with Veronica and LooseCanon. I'm not sure anyone's listening though...
It doesn't appear to work in Google Chrome... but I think SooB hit the nail on the head...
@LeeAnne: Just tried it in Chrome, it worked fine. It did prompt me to allow full screen.
