As a life member I am prepared to give them time. They were as far as I can find out pushed into releasing the site early because of complaints now they are being inundated by people with no patience complaining it isn't fully functional.
With regard to life membership meaning nothing it isn't as if an individual has paid through the nose for the membership most organisations I belong to ask between 500 and 1000 pounds for life membership. The yearly membership at £25 is less than 50p per week people will spend more on coffee.
The time I suggest you give them is not the run up to the site it can take an incredibly long time to develop a complex site like this.
The constant complaints of over capacity (something I only experienced about once a week) forced an early release. It is the time between release and the bugs being fixed which needs time.
Had people not demanded the site before it was ready it might have taken another few months but would have almost certainly worked more smoothly than it is now.
Can someone tell me where my settings are now? I've searched the website and cannot find them
To find your settings go to the browse page. Click on your name slightly to the left of centre an menu drops down and settings is one of the choices.
Hope this helps.
I t seems there is a lack of understanding of what is involved in getting more 'capacity'. You can't just transfer an old site to a new server and expect better speed. Internet technology has been through paradigm changes since blip started. The site needs to be responsive to many different devices and operating systems and that is a very complex task. Blip is not a large organisation and probably can't afford the megabucks it costs to have all that done in one go and with no bugs. Give them some kudos for getting this far instead of having a dead server running the old site. There are bugs but they are being sorted out.
