Hoping.....

Let's wait to see how the merger affects us, before we start worrying about commercialism and loss of privacy.

I'd like to think that Joe still has his original core values intact. The guy has every right to build and expand his own business....and if we don't like it then it's up to us to stop using the site.

I haven't yet decided if I'll be joining again when my fees are due. I await the new developments with interest.

But I sincerely wish blipcentral all the best. Let's hope this is good for all of us.

A very similar view to mine. I think we have to wait and see what emerges from this.
For example it's not clear just what sort of a merger this is. Has Polaroid bought Blipfoto outright? Have they bought a share of Blipfoto? Who is in charge?
I'm willing to wait and see, though as a life member I don't have a lot of choice :-).

@keibr.....I read in another post, an 'official answer', that Polaroid has merged with blip as opposed to having bought it over. Of course who knows what that really means.

Apparently Joe is going to do some sort of Q & A. God help him!!

My counsel was patience after the change. I thought there was something familiar about how the profile avatar image was displayed.

I'm a lifetime member - starts the fifteenth of this month. My knee jerk reaction was, "I'm off!" but that is unfair to the community Joe has enabled us to build . . . Let's hope BlipCentral continues to shepherd us although I must say once trust is perceived to be broken it is more difficult to regain which is why Joe posted his personal message . . .

I have only been blipping for 4 months and was edging towards becoming a full member. Now I am not. I will wait and see but I am a bit pessimistic.

I agree with you. At first I was a bit contend. Blip answered my question and it occurred to me. I joined this site because I believed in Joe Tree's vision. I am willing to stay and see where it goes. It's the community. I really have become to care about so many. So I will wait and see. And unless it is answered by blip itself, I will wait for an answer and not speculate!!! It will be ok I am sure.

But the ones you've forgotten here are those of us who signed up and paid up for lifetime membership, having been led to believe we were signing up and paying our money for blipfoto NOT polaroid. You will of course have noted whose name comes first in the new title and therefore who will in the end have the control of the site. I suspect a good number of us wouldn't even mind that, if we didn't feel we'd been deliberately misled.

I agree with TeeJay. I signed up as a lifetime member in the belief that I was helping to preserve the special nature of blipfoto; including it's ad-free independence. I thought I was contributing to the much needed bigger servers. However, it seems that this was not the plan. Now I think that blip probably needed to be able to show potential investors that it had a core of committed, long-term users.
