I see you have two photos loaded now so assume you got there. Cropping shouldn't make any difference so it might have been a gllitch in the system. Let me know if you're still having problems.
today I uploaded my first contribution to blipfoto (a photo taken yesterday, 19/3) and then wanted to upload another one (taken today). blipfoto correctly identified the date that the first photo was taken, so I assumed it would do the same for the second one, but I was told to "please select a valid photo". It was a jpg, but it was cropped using Picasa. Does the cropping make it an 'illegal' format? All exif data were retained in the jpg after the cropping.

I use picasa to play with photos and never haver a problem. So process away!
Sheenagh, I didn't get there, because the photo you see there is the uncropped version. But I'll try again another time.
You may have cropped it too small. The length of one side has to be at least 650 pixels I believe.
I think Picasa strips the exif data from the shot under certain circumstances so there may be no date stamp there which will confuse things.
I am not an expert but only photo taken the day of the post are legal. If U want to post an old favorite you can take a photo of an old photo or of your computer screen and then post.
