BLIP BOOK ALTERNATIVE?

Wondering if anyone has found or tried an alternative company to publish their BLIP 365 book? It wouldn't be nearly as convenient, but desperate to not let 2 years of posts go unpublished... So disappointed the shop is still down with no projected re-opening. -_- Also, any referrals for similar 365 style sites that do offer publishing?

Hi, I've self published a couple of photo books for family and friends through Blurb. It's not the cheapest option but I've been happy with the results. Obviously it woldn't automatically detect or add your posts so there would be a lot of copying and pasting. Also, I create books through Lightroom so I don't know what thir standalone software is like. Lots of formats and the allow you to create pdf and iPad/Kindle formatted ebooks.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll look into Blurp. I've used Shutterfly for other projects, but the maximum amount of pages you can have is 101. Really liked having 1 pic a page for the 365... still no response to multiple inquiries about the shop. I REALLY hope it re-opens, but if it doesn't this will be my last year with Blip... sad after 3 years.

No problem. They have a nice wee calcuator tool that allows you to work out costs etc. I just checked because I use lustre paper and so am limited to 240 pages. You can go above this but you have to use their standard paper. I've never printed on this so I can't say how good it is. If you were to try them out you might want to create a small test book to see if meets your needs.

I'd be surprised if it returned in it's old format but if the new investors are going to make a go of this site at all they are going to have to tie in a shop I would have thought. Good luck with putting your book together! :-)

Good info, thank you! IKR, it seems silly to just upload a 365 project and not be able to commemorate it into a book at the end of the year. I wish they would have given us a warning when they switched over at New Years, I'm sure most of us had a book we were anxious to print... My 1st book's binding didn't hold up great, but still love it! Bad sign that they have quit communicating... : (

I only ever created a booke here for my first 100 days but I know others who have completed one for each year. Shame if it isn't kept up since it would seem to be a no-brainer for Blip to make extra money. Hopefully once the new management have settled in, they'll start communicating again.

I really hope they start communicating... still no response about the shop. Willing to spend more for the memento.

I am not even contemplating printing my 365 Book elsewhere.

Frankly I feel entirely let down by Blip - they took out money (for those of us who prepaid in April 2014) and then 'conveniently' took the shop off line prior to Christmas just as many people were finishing up their book ready to be printed.

And now they seem happy to ignore these questions.

I claimed the money I pre-paid for a 365 book back from my credit card company.

Blip did not contest it within the 45 day period - they couldn't really as they didn't deliver and went bust!

I'd advise others who prepaid to contact their credit card provider or bank.

Good that you got your book money back. Have inquired several times about the books, no response. They went from great customer service, to no customer service when Polaroid took over... : ( Wish they had at least given us a warning that they were going to quit printing and not offer false hope on re-opening... Hope the site isn't just gone one day when we go to log-in...years of pics...

I have started blipping on 365project.org as well as a back up.

Polaroid Blipfoto have proved they can't be trusted....and as you say no communication.

I'm looking around for a book publisher. I have a mate who is a pro printer and see what he suggests.

@BobsBlips Curious what your friend suggests. Thanks for the 365project...unfortunately, looks like they don't print books either. Looks like I will be considering a lengthy download & upload to try to make a Blurb 365 book...or 2... -_- I miss blipfoto (before Polaroid).

I had my first year book done by Blip, then my second done in three volumes by Vista print, hard work as each photo had to be re submitted (plus it did let me use extras) and all the text to redo. I was very pleased with the results though. I am just about to start putting year three together.
