Thread order in these help "forums"

When "answers" to these questions are posted, they don't appear in the order posted. I think they must be ordered by rating or something. Since the answers are usually not answers to the question but contributions to a discussion, often referring to earlier posts, this makes it completely random and impossible to follow the discussion or know who's replying to whom.

It looks like some off-the-shelf helpdesk software that's been repurposed to act as a forum, and it doesn't work very well. Can you force replies to stay in date posted order?

If you look at the up and down arrows next to the post, this enables you to vote up or vote down a comment, quite a common feature on a lot of sites. It's a way for people to order replies on the basis of helpfulness rather than the date or time it was posted.

@Richard: Yes. I know that. That works in contexts like StackOverflow. The problem is that this "helpdesk" is being used like a forum, since there are now no real forums on Blipfoto. In this context, most people aren't aware of the voting system, and having the discussion jumbled up like this is not helpful.

I hadn't realised that the voting system altered the order of the comments. I'll stop voting now.

I agree with the concerns. This area has been implemented without explanation. We would historically be able to understand the discussion on the forums as they were in strict date order. Zendesk is a proprietary product but I'm unsure how much customisation is possible, I'm sure Blip Central will come back to us in time.
