Where is the profile image in this forum coming from?

I noticed today that the profile icon showing in this community forum when I comment is not the profile image that I have on blipfoto. I wondered where it was coming from. I figured out that it is my gravatar image that is linked to my wordpress.com account. I don't recall that I chose to link my wordpress.com account and my blipfoto.com account. In fact it is actually something I do not want. How does that fit with privacy issues? Does anyone else think this is a bit odd?

Yes. This zendesk site is a completely separate 3rd-party system that is evidently using other sources than blipfoto for avatars. It's clunky, and privacy may be an issue too. We could certainly be given more info over exactly what we are sharing with Zendesk.

I also wondered the same - my profile pic here is really old - and I don't know where it's come from as it was last used as a profile pic online several years ago. I'd much prefer it to be the one on my Blipfoto profile!

I just noticed the same, it's similar, but not my blip image, it's an older one I have on wordpress.com

Mine is not from my blip account, I never gave permission for its use and I am not happy with it being attached.

I raised this with the help desk along with another issue, and while the other issued was promptly investigated, I never received an explanation, but support updated my avatar with my blip profile one.

I'd wondered about this avatar which does indeed use an old pic I've used elsewhere and probably here before. I'm happy with it but I take your point that these are being used outside our control. That should be addressed.

Apparently this proprietary software uses the gravatar so-called globally recognised avatar. You can block it if you wish using Ghostery, part of the Ad-block family of widgets.
