Why are notifications and comments pages set up differently

I've just asked a question of Blip Central. Does anyone else find the difference between the comments and notification pages frustrating?

"I find the difference between the comments and notifications pages and the way they are set out frustrating. For notifications the contributor's avatar links to their journal and the word 'entry' is used to identify the Blip being rewarded, So you have to click through the word 'entry' to know which blip is being rewarded. There is no link off the contributor's name to their journal. How much better the way the comments page is set out, with a thumbnail of the image being referred to, a link to the commenter by their name.

Could a change be considered to this page? It aids consistency of the site. The Avatars are yet to take off and in many cases have little reference for me with my subscribers (sorry, followers). I believe that changing the avatar for the journal entry thumbnail would be appreciated my most users and you can link to the contributor's journal from their name."

The old way was MUCH better - the notification of a comment linked you straight to that comment (which was greyed out) on that blip - no scrolling down looking for it... I find this 'new' way less than perfect.

I agree with Graham Colling about having thumbnails of the entry rather than avatars, he puts it more clearly than I could.
There's thread here https://blipfoto.zendesk.com/hc/communities/public/questions/203076033-Could-comment-history-list-show-whether-a-comment-has-been-replied-to- identifying further helpful tweaks to the notifications page and another here Combine Comments and Notifications – Polaroid Blipfoto help centre suggesting (amongst other things) that that a heart/star symbol could be shown against the comment on the actual post - this is my particular favourite as it would mean once you're sent to the post you can easily see and respond to hearts/stars from there. currently you have yo keep clicking back and forwards to the notifications page to check each heart/star. Currently messy and cumbersome.

I asked about this here ages ago, but no response. I find it really hard to respond to stars and hearts now -- as you say, it's time-consuming to have to click on every single one to find out which entry it is. Disappointed they didn't fix this when they improved the new comment listing.

Oh, and I also agree with LadyMarchmont that it's annoying not being taken directly to the new comment from the comments list, instead having to scroll down to look for it. Must be really annoying for people who get dozens of comments.

I've had an answer from BlipCentral:

"Thanks very much for getting in touch and the great feedback.

I have taken a note of it and passed it on to the appropriate team who will look at it for future developments. It is a little confusing at the moment so hopefully we can sort this out."

Well, at least they also find it confusing! I can't help but think they are working really hard but are probably having to re-prioritise on an almost daily basis as issues are identified.

I feel it would be really useful if they had an issues log that they shared with the membership so we could see what they are working on and when they have come up with a resolution. I project manage regularly and this is one of our key documents.

Thanks for update JC.

Amen. Best idea yet, very well put and I for one would really appreciate that. Similar ideas have been mooted elsewhere but perhaps your background will add some weight to the idea. Fingers crossed.
