Supporting New Members

Through various discussions on Blip I get the feeling that many established users now comment less, generally. I've also seen comments that make me think that any new users are less likely to gain new subscribers (followers) from amongst the established users. I might be wrong and if so please put me right, but if Blip has a future, encouraging more people to join is probably one of the key elements to any new business plan. While we haven't heard from Blip Central it doesn't mean we can't do our bit so I have decided to subscribe to any new Blip members I come across. Of course, this might be difficult as I don't know how to find members with only a few entries. Does anyone know a way.

It's a shame the journal browsing feature is gone. That and the forums, also gone, are the only ways I knew of easily finding new members.

That said, I find it hard to believe that anyone is joining blip now, it has so little to recommend it for newcomers. I know I'm commenting far less, and I haven't subscribed to anyone new for ages. It's such a shame that all the massive goodwill of blippers has been squandered for the lack of some simple, basic communication. Over three months now.

Meant to add - even 'though it seems counter to the community-building function of the previous New Journals page. Like we're attempting to create community DESPITE the site structure.

Hi - this is a really good point and a great idea. I've written a little program to extract a list of any journals from the "Recent" page with 30 or fewer posts. Happy to share the results with anyone that wants it. Annie
