Stratford-upon-Avon, 24th August

This is a first call for people who might be interested in a blip meet in Stratford on 24th August. Ellaphant and her husband will be in town, and as well as seeing the sights they would like to meet up with some people if possible.

If you might be interested, please add your name to this thread.

We (topsy56 and wjm53) will be arriving that day on a bus tour. We don't know what time we will get there or what activities are planned for us but we will make every effort to meet you if we can.

This meet is definitely happening! After some discussion with Ellaphant, this is what we're suggesting:

10.30 meet at Caffe Nero in Henley Street (close to the main Post Office). Coffee etc.
Walk through town to the Guildhall and Shakespeare's Schoolroom; there's an £8.90 pp charge for this (with concessions), so if anyone doesn't want to do this bit, I'd suggest they just wander and take photos in the town.
Guild Chapel (free entrance) - this is next to the Guildhall, so anyone who didn't do the Guildhall could rendezvous with us there.
Walk down Chapel Lane to the theatre; anyone who fancies it can go up the Tower for £2.50 pp. There are good views across town from the top - there's also a lift up, though I think they suggest that you walk back down.
Lunch - we'll gladly take suggestions on this, but if no-one has any better ideas, we had a decent pub lunch at The Windmill the last time we had a Stratford meet.
Holy Trinity - free entrance, unless you want to go to Shakespeare's grave, which has a small charge.
Walk along the river - either side of it is nice, and there are bridges or the Chain Ferry to cross it.
Home for a sit-down.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for amending this. Obviously if it rains we'll cut out the walk!

Sadly we (topsy56 and wjm53) won't arrive until mid afternoon so we will miss our first ever blipmeet. (The joys of traveling on a tour.)
Our first stop will be Shakespeare's birthplace before we have some free time before dinner. We will be on the lookout for a group of people with cameras and will make ourselves known.

If we come we may be able to catch up with you somewhere. 10.30 a.m. is a bit early for us to get there.

For those who don't know Stratford, here is a list of the car parks: https://www.stratford.gov.uk/transport/car-parks-stratford.cfm

Personally I'll probably use the Recreation Ground, and then walk over the Old Tramway Bridge into town. The map is interactive: if you enlarge it you'll be able to find Bridge Street, which is one of the main shopping drags; at the west end of it (or the top when you walk it) there is a roundabout with four roads and a pedestrianised street running from it. The pedestrianised street is Henley Street, which is where you'll find Caffe Nero - very close to the MAD Museum, which is shown on the map.

We are coming on the train and should be there in plenty of time if we catch the train we're planning on getting!

We will meet you tomorrow at 10.30 at Cafe Nero. We've seen the Shakespeare Birthplace and the Anne Hathaway Cottage, but the Guildhall not yet. We have already visited Holy Trinity Church, including Shake's grave but I think we'll enjoy a walk along the river. We have an appointment at 17.30 but I think we'll be done before then, so no problem.
See you tomorrow!

Sadly I won't be joining you after all in Stratford - have a fantastic Blipmeet everyone - looks like the sun will be shining for you! 😎
