On OldBlip, back-blips were kept separate from new blips, now the numbers are rolled up together. This is going to mess up some blip birthdays - do these still exist?

Hi - again, sorry for the length of time it's taken to respond to your question!

I'm afraid there isn't an easy answer to this one...

We undertook a lot of research over the past 12 months looking at how people use the site. The overwhelming feedback on "Back Blips" was that they are hugely confusing. Very few users knew what they were (many asked why some of their entries didn't count toward the number of Blips they had!). We decided that we had to try and solve this problem. This involved combining the entries.

A small number of users have, unfortunately (like xb below) have been affected by this move, meaning that a few people will not have been able to celebrate their Blipfoto anniversary. We are hugely sorry for this. We will do our utmost to make it up to you.

The importance of the 'birthdays' and 'anniversaries' are no less important to us. In fact, we hope that we will be able to reinforce these great little moments that bring the community together even more!

I have the same concern. Only 13 days away from my 3 year anniversary and it feels as though the site has downgraded the importance of Blip birthdays and other anniversaries.

I'm in the same boat - backblips and 'actuals' have been rolled together and suddenly I'm past my 4 year anniversary. Is this intentional?

I'm not keen on this. I've just missed my 2000th as a result. I had a nice collection of scans from my childhood I was happy to have in an archive and not part of my blip journal, as such.

I am glad that you recognise the importance of 'birthdays' and 'anniversaries'. This was one of the things that made Blipfoto special as a photo website and was hugely important in creating a sense of community. I do hope you can find a way of bringing them back before too many other folk miss out on their special days.

This is a piece of major stupidity and illustrates how little thought went into the consolidation of blips posted on dates before signing up. All "Birthdays" and the number of entries are now meaningless.

I posted a number of archive entries and since signing up three and a half years ago haven't missed a day but that isn't what my joournal shows now. Sure, I am nearer my 1500th but only if you apply the "new rules".

The "photo-a-day" concept and challenge is now meaningless here.

This is unforgivable and suddenly Blipfoto is much reduced place.

Ah well, another Subscription lost.

"Back-Blips" was a term used to describe those photos posted after the day they were shot and NOT the photos posted on dates before joining Blipfoto. It is you who is confused and frankly this sounds like an excuse. We'll never know because you'll never admit, will you?

It is some consolation to know that you are "hugely sorry", I'll remember to be "hugely sorry" for not renewing my subscrption.
