Ok, found 'places' but bemused as to how to search an area rather than by city...
There is a map, use the right most link and it's based on Google Maps, but it doesn't seem to have the same feature set as the old one. I'm hoping this will be sorted as the site is developed further.
I mapped my entry today - no search for a place, had to work from world map
On the plus side, we've got google's street view now too, so you can have a proper look around!
I have always browsed by map, but when I try to do this now It doesn't seem to work. Tried about ten times, once I got a couple of pins showing blips, but most of the time I got none.mi tried both central London and the area I'd just marked the location of my recent blips.
I think this may be a bug.
I also couldn't switch to satellite view when adding the location to a blip. This is really useful when you've taken a photo out of town and not near a road.

My upload had GPS data. I ticked the Add To Map button, but was then taken to a blank sea of blue with a pin on it! Had to leave it unticked to publish. No idea if the GPS is there or not!
The official answer doesn't work for me. There is a tick box on the upload page that merely loses my entry.
