Jumping the shark

Brian, the silence from the company seems to be having an increasing effect on the site activity. To begin with at least we had the rescue and a promise of things settling down but as you rightly say it has been too long since hearing from the people running the site.

I find my behaviour is adapting and while I want the site to succeed and wish to remain a member, I spend less time on here, look at other people's journals less and am beginning to worry that things aren't going well behind the scenes. I know there is a view that as long as the members stay strong and committed the site will remain but that is misguided in its naivety. No income is coming into the site from members and it feels like a ship without a captain and crew.

I have been a very strong supporter of sticking in here but it is difficult to keep investing in a site where there is no indication of a viable future.

What do others think?

It's a bit like attending a seance, " is anybody there"?

It does seem very quiet out there and views and comments seem very low. It's summer though and many sites do go quiet at such times although I'd not noticed that with blip before. I've been trying to remain upbeat about it all but it's so difficult in these circumstances. I've no doubt that for a great many people are just waiting for the life support to be switched off. That doesn't make for a vibrant site despite lots of good folk keeping on posting and commenting.

RockArea makes a valid point about it being summer, but for many I subscribe to and visa versa it is their winter. Just look at the traffic on this part of the site, way down on the initial use. I'd hate not to be part of this wonderful community but we cannot survive by ourselves; this site needs managing. I invest a lot of my time to being active on Blipfoto but this silence from HQ is wearing me down. Usually with sites I subscribe to I am finding ways to cut down on the amount of messages I'm receiving. I so want to hear some good news and I'm sure I'm not the only one!

I feel really disheartened by it all currently.

I am just under a fortnight from 1,000 consecutive blips and I am thinking of calling it a day after that :-(

I have to agree too. Since there has been no photo of the week, Blipcentral news etc, the heart of the community has gone. That heart needs to be there. Whilst I post daily (3.5 years) and chat to a few good friends, there is no desire to hang about, talk to others or participate.

Come on Blipcentral, where are you?

I agree with all the above. I am confused as to why they launched that 100 extra shots thingy when they could (should, in my opinion) have spent the time and energy fixing the things which are broken and in communicating with their loyal followers!

I've been so upset with how we're being treated here. I've been a member for 6 years plus and paid up for a lifetime membership and I've had enough. An alternative 365 community that I stumbled upon some months ago is https://tookapic.com/photos
It's a really lovely design with some great photography and it reminds me of how blip used to be in the good old days.

That's a new one to me fedup, will give it a look.

Whatever marketing spin you have, bring it. You've ABSOLUTELY no interest in your contributors on here, your silence has spoken volumes on that. You probably won't even have the courtesy to respond to this, that's the arrogance you have and have shown to the community this past six months .

So, to all you honest blippers, best of luck to you all that stick in on here, but I'm out. Blip on good blip-buddies, but as they've already said... "

Now here's an idea. Maybe the new company doesn't want the 'old guard', the 1000 plus blippers especially the ones who come onto the forum and groan about how good the old site was.

Maybe the strategy is to smother them in silence so they take their a*ses in their hands and bugger off. Then they can do a big relaunch without them being here to say how great it was in the old days when Joe started it.

Just a thought.
